Taught by Herbalist S.A. Lawless

Original Class Date: Oct 26, 2025

Discover the fascinating world of wild medicinal mushrooms with this introduction to their properties and uses in folk medicine, herbalism, and conventional medicine. This practical online class will share how to identify and wild harvest medicinal mushrooms in your region, how to process and prepare medicines with fungi, the different types of medicinal mushroom preparations, and how to utilize their benefits for specific issues and every day life. This class will hopefully leave you confident in identifying multiple medicinal mushroom species in the wild and comfortable with making at least two different medicinal mushroom preparations.

This online class specifically covers medicinal mushrooms growing in North America that are non toxic and relatively easy to identify and locate such as birch polypore, chaga, lion’s mane, oyster mushrooms, puffballs, reishi, rock tripe, turkey tail, and more. Despite the North American focus, many medicinal mushrooms are either present or have near identical sister species on other continents and much of the information shared will apply to the fungi of other regions as well.  Your host is S.A. Lawless, an herbalist of 20 years, an avid mycophile, and an experienced mushroom identification and foraging guide of 10 years.

Purchase includes access to a video recording of the class and a downloadable pdf handout of the class contents, recipes, and citations with a resource list for further learning.
