Re-apply every 5-6 hours if using for pain relief.
How long do they take to work?
Everyone is different, but on average it can take 1-2 hours for a topical preparation to take full effect on the mind and body.
If using for sleep issues, apply 2 hours before going to bed.
Are your nightshade balms okay for long-term use?
Studies so far agree that tropane alkaloids in belladonna and datura are much less dangerous when used externally as the constituents are not passing through your digestive system or organs. The gut is where these toxins do the most damage.
If you are on any medication or are using the ointment to help with a chronic medical condition, be sure to inform your health care practitioner.
Can I use them if I am pregnant/breastfeeding?
No! These herbs are not safe to use when pregnant or breastfeeding.
How do I ensure the safety of children and pets?
Wash hands after use and cover the application area with clothing if you have pets who lick you or small children who will touch you. Store nightshade balms in a medicine cabinet or other location safe and away from curious children and pets.

What is the shelf life?
2 years if stored at room temperature in dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep away from freezing temperatures. Keep away from window sills, the kitchen stove, and hot cars.
How can I tell if my balm has expired?
Shelf stable oils will eventually go rancid over time and take on an unpleasant smell. If left unused for a year or more a balm may become thick and gummy. If either of these has occurred, you should replace it with a new balm. Use it or lose it!
