Edible Poisonous Plants: Clammy Ground Cherry

Clammy groundcherry (physalis heterophylla) is a poisonous and edible nightshade native to eastern N. America you may have spotted in the wild or in your own garden. The whole plant is toxic to ingest due to its solanine content with the exception of the ripe yellow fruits. There are 80+ physalis species in the Americas
