Black poppy (papaver somniferum) is a breadseed poppy mutation with purple petals so dark they are almost black. The poisonous and medicinal breadseed poppy is an ancient symbol of sleep and death and has been used both to raise the spirits of the dead and protect from them. Black poppy represents honouring and remembering the dead and can be taken internally or used externally for anointing or a few drops in a spiritual bath before practicing any ancestor work or veneration of the dead. Instructions:
